Toomey is a Master Craftsman in the Art
of Jewelry Making and a Gemologist.
Marks love of color and artistic
influence combined with his 25 years of
experience have given his Creations a
distinctive one of a kind look.

stones. Through extensive searching
Mark has found this particular form of
cutting embodies all of the qualities
expected in fine gems. Because regular
facets sometimes hide tiny flaws, the
Concave Cut always begins with as
flawless as possible stone. Instead of
facets the gem cutters have used soft
grooves that radiate from the Girdle to
the Culet which is the very bottom of
the stone. These grooves are cut
vertically, thus achieving a brilliance
not possible otherwise.
 Mark
Toomey has been a jeweler for 25 years.
He started in Dallas as an apprentice
to an Australian Jeweler in the Ola
Padrita Artison Mall where after
training and experience he soon began
doing his own trade work. In 1989 he
opened his first shop at a blueberry
farm near Canton Texas off of Highway
64. He shortly moved into the center of
the city of Canton.
In
search of a home and location where he
could further his skills, Mark found
himself drawn to the quaint town of
Fredericksburg Texas in the Texas Hill
Country, famous for its art and culture,
where he finished his Gemology degree.
Toomey, as a painter, sculptor, and
graduate gemologist, having received his
degree from the Gemological Institute of
America, is a fine craftsman skilled in
all forms of jewelry making. He does
wax carving, casting, fabrication,
alloying precious metals and gold
refining.
Mr.
Toomey's flair for artistic design from
ancient to new has been a driving force
for his art form in jewelry making. He
has collected over 2000 loose gemstones
as well as minerals for his customers to
choose from and enjoy viewing. Working
mostly with colored gemstones and
diamonds Marks designs are a unique and
refreshing contrast to a world of mass
produced commercial jewelry.
In
2008 Mark employed a lady apprentice,
Iryna, from the Ukraine, who is an
accomplished Artist, Composer and
Pianist. She has proved to be an asset
to the business being skilled in working
with stringing pearls, creative design
work and interior décor. Iryna became
invaluable to Creations In Jewelry and
in 2009 she became Mrs. Iryna Toomey
bringing Lewie her 4yr old son, all
together becoming the Toomey Family.
